The Epic Games Store Holiday Sale Kicks Off With Deals, Free Games And An Amazing Coupon

The Epic Game Store Holiday Sale is here and it’s off to a strong start with good discounts on recent high profile games, an outstanding free game and a coupon deal that keeps on giving.

Epic’s Holiday Sale offers good discounts on a pair of game-of-the-year contenders along with several other recent and highly regarded games. The award contenders are The Outer Worlds (25% discount) and Control (33%). Both are excellent. I’m having a hard time pulling myself away Obsidian’s sharp critique of corporate capitalism to get back to the intriguing weirdness going on inside Remedy’s Federal Bureau of Control.

Some other games with attractive Holiday Sale discounts include Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (17%), Red Dead Redemption 2 (20%) and Borderlands 3 (35%). The deal on Fallen Order is surprising seeing that it only released a little more than a month ago.

The Holiday Sale also includes a free game every day for 12 days and the first one is a stone-cold winner. Into the Breach is a challenging strategy game that offers tactical depth in a small 8×8 space. It was nominated for numerous awards in 2018 and was named the best strategy game at the Game Awards, and the Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year at D.I.C.E. It also won the award for Best Game Design at the Game Developer’s Choice Awards and the best Original Property from the British Academy Games Awards. Into the Breach is outstanding, it’s addictive and it’s free until December 20 at 10:00 AM.

Last but not least, the Epic Coupon may be the best deal of all. The Coupon is worth $10 off any game available now in the game store that’s priced at $14.99 or more after sale discounts (if any) have been applied. The Coupon doesn’t apply to pre-orders, DLC or season passes or in-game purchases.

A $10 discount is good. Another $10 discount is better. As many $10 discounts as you want is awesome. If you use your Coupon, Epic gives you another one and they’ll keep doing it until the Holiday Sale ends at 11:00 AM EST January 1. If you have an unused Coupon at that time, you can use it up until April 30 at 2:59 EST.

The Epic Store doesn’t have the breadth of content you find on Steam but they’re making up for it with free games and a Coupon that doesn’t expire when you use it. I was bummed when Phoenix Point didn’t launch on the Xbox One as planned but $10 off a $40 game? Locked, loaded and can’t wait to get started. Thanks, Epic.
