The Best Nintendo Switch Deals For January 2020: Games, Consoles, And Accessories

We still don’t quite know what the Nintendo Switch will hold for us in 2020. Nintendo’s big, confirmed releases for the year include Animal Crossing: New Horizons, No More Heroes 3, and Deadly Premonition 2. That’s not a whole lot compared to previous years, but we’re sure we’ll get more confirmations as the year progresses. In the meantime, it’s a good time to pick up some new accessories and clear out your backlog, and to help you do that as cheaply as possible, we’ve rounded up the best Nintendo Switch deals available now.

Nintendo is pretty stingy when it comes to discounts, which means Switch consoles and games aren’t heavily discounted right now. There are a few savings to watch out for, however.

We’ll update this story with any new Switch deals we see come up this month, so make sure to keep checking back for more deals.

Quick look: Best Nintendo Switch deals

Nintendo Switch console deals

Nintendo Switch (new model) for $284.25

Deals on the updated Switch model (which sports better battery life) are hard to come by, but there’s usually a minor discount going on somewhere. Ebay’s got a decent $15 price-cut going, for example, though they’re likely to go quickly.

Nintendo Switch (old model) bundle with Mario Tennis Aces and 1-2-Switch for $360

If you’re not too picky about battery life and don’t mind picking up a pair of games with your Switch, Amazon has a good deal. This bundle includes an older-model Switch, Mario Tennis Aces, and 1-2 Switch. Both games are going for $50-$60 at most retailers, so if you were looking to get both of those games, this bundle could save you between $40-$60.

Nintendo Switch Lite for $200

As the latest model of the Switch, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a great deal on the Switch Lite right now. The console itself is a great little device, however, and we’ll update this listing whenever we see a great deal on it pop up.

Best Switch game deals

Luigi’s Mansion 3 for $52 at Amazon

No Caption Provided

Major deals on Switch games are hard to come by compared to deals for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games. However, you can usually skim a few dollars off the MSPR on recently released games if you know where to look. Luigi’s Mansion 3, for example, is $52 over at Amazon right now.

Best Switch pre-order deals

Kentucky Route Zero for $22.49 at Nintendo

If Switch game deals are rare, deals on Nintendo games before release are especially rare, which means there aren’t too many right now. However, as the year goes on we’re likely to see more Switch games pop up at a discount before launch. The deals below are mostly for digital pre-orders.

Best Switch accessory deals

Samsung 256GB Switch-Compatible Memory Card for $38 at Amazon

Samsung’s line of microSDXC EVO memory cards work with Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite, making them indispensable for anyone who wants to load up tons of games on their Nintendo console. Amazon is currently selling the 256GB of their cards for $38, making them one of the best ways to expand your Switch’s storage space before Black Friday.

Best Switch Online membership deals

No Caption Provided

Switch Online is Nintendo’s monthly membership that grants access to online multiplayer, save data cloud backup for most (but not all) games, and a selection of over 40 NES games and 20 SNES games, as well as the ability to buy official NES and SNES controllers compatible with Switch. Nintendo Switch Online is far cheaper than Sony or Microsoft’s online subscriptions–an annual individual subscription sells for $20, while a family plan for up to eight Nintendo accounts is $35–but it’s still another expense added to the ever-growing pile of Switch-related purchases.

If you’re an Amazon Prime member who claimed your first three months of Switch Online free via Twitch Prime last year, you have until January 22, 2020 to claim your additional nine months free. Unfortunately, the deadline has passed if you never claimed your first three months free.

Here’s a deal everyone can claim, though: Popular Switch Online game Tetris 99 is getting a physical release, and it includes 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online. Not only that, but you’ll get all current and future DLC for the game. That bundle will cost you $30.
