PlayStation 5 will be brought to the stores in 2020, around Christmas time. Therefore, you should already start writing your letter to Santa Claus since the console will be a significant upgrade for its predecessor PlayStation 4.

PlayStation 5 system architect Mark Cerny recently revealed precious info about the future console, along with the confirmation of the release date.

The greatest feature is the new controller

Sony’s new gaming beast will come with some impressive high-tech improvements like better graphics, bigger games, and more. But the most impressive one lies within the technology of the controller, according to game director Alexis Corominas who spoke for GamingBolt.

“This is the thing I’m personally more excited about, more than raw processing numbers.

“More memory or more CPU at the end is a quantitative improvement, while the Haptic enabled controllers sound like the kind of qualitative step forward that can offer new ways of interaction with the player, it opens a lot of doors on how to tell things.”

Programmable voice-coil actuators will be located on the left and right grips of the controllers, which will provide all-new controller feedback sensations. Thus, the controller will be able to provide different and realistic sensations to the player. Getting your character into water will feel different than being run over by a truck, getting shot by a bullet, or finding his way along a wooden bridge.

“Multiplayer game servers will provide the console with the set of joinable activities in real time. Single-player games will provide information like what missions you could do and what rewards you might receive for completing them – and all of those choices will be visible in the UI.

“As a player you just jump right into whatever you like.” said Cerny for Wired.

Another interesting aspect of the new PS console is that games will come on discs of 100GB that will be inserted into a drive that also acts as a 4K Blu Ray player. Rumors say that PlayStation 5 will run Virtual Reality games and 8K graphics due to third-generation AMD Ryzen processor and a GPU based on AMD’s Radeon Navi.
